A court case in India has handed down a landmark ruling which could significantly improve women’s abortion rights.

It says all women, including those who are unmarried, have equal rights to termination. 

Abortions have been legal since 1971, but because of a traditional preference for sons, and in-turn a higher prevalence of female fetus terminations access has been extremely restricted.
