Labour responded to National's leader putting co-governance with Māori on blast on Wednesday morning.

Christopher Luxon called conversations around it divisive and immature, at Rātana yesterday.

Deputy Labour Party Leader and Minister for Māori Crown Relations Kelvin Davis told Tova O'Brien it comes down to a difference in opinion.

"I thought it was a bit tone-deaf," said Davis.

"I thought it was not quite the right thing at that time, but he makes his own decisions."
