Australia Day - January 26 is the date marking the 1788 landing of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove. It’s also a day that many indigenous Australians see as commemorating the beginning of colonisation in their homeland. 

This year there’s been growing calls to change the date of the public holiday that many First Communities now describe as Invasion Day.

Some big retailers like Woolworths and Universities have told staff they can swap the date and choose another day off.
