The extreme toll of Covid-19 on our frontline health workers has led many to feel abandoned.

A new viewpoint in the NZ Medical Journal draws on recent research revealing the extent of the stress felt by inadequate access to PPE gear during the first wave of Covid.

It says the poor distribution was a canary in the coalmine of wider cracks in the health system, especially when it comes to worker safety.
