George - Anna’s brother, Olga’s dad - had retired from the military, and planned to settle, but when the capital was attacked he took Olga to safety and re-enlisted. 

He was in the last vehicle in a convoy when a missile hit and he was killed.

Olga still struggles to believe it happened.
