Alix Popham was one of Wales’ central figures in their 2003 Rugby World Cup heroics - guiding them to the quarter finals, where they lost to eventual champions England.

Now at the age of 42 he can’t remember it. He was diagnosed with early onset dementia in 2020. Popham, along with more than 150 former stars including New Zealand’s Carl Hayman, has launched legal action against World Rugby for the brain injuries that they sustained during their careers.
