We’re still reeling from the current pandemic and scientists are worried the next big virus is one that’s already on our radar - laying dormant in one of our animal species.

The good news is that there is now a way to program computers to map out where the potential threats may lie - and their likelihood of spilling over into humans.

Colin Carlson is a biologist at Washington’s Georgetown University who is a force in this space - and is producing a shortlist of viruses with the most potential to jump the species barrier.
