Practical Obedience (James 1:19-27)

1. Our Goal is the Righteousness of God; not ours.

2. a. Man’s Way – I have all of the answers; listen to me!

3. b. God’s Way – Listen, first; and then humbly share.

4. c. Are you listening?

5. Our Guide is the Word of God

6. a. Our intention is His Righteousness

7. b. Instruction flows from Intention – Teach me!
8. c. Obedience flows from Instruction – Lead me!

i. Deception – hearing is sufficient – I heard a good sermon today; off to do as I please

ii. Obedience – I heard a good sermon and will adjust my life to live it out this week

• d. Blessings & Freedom flow from Obedience

i. One of which is self-control – slow to speak…

• e. Practical Ministry demonstrates Faith

• ….Faith is Active – Faith is expressed in active ministry and holy living.

• His Righteousness is our Goal
