Episode: He Promises a Future Hope (Amos 9)
A Future Hope is Promised – 9:11-15
He raises up the ruins
He repairs the breeches
He rebuilds the demolished – He does that for nations and for individuals
a. He gives us Hope beyond what we deserve or can imagine when we surrender our plans to His.
He preserves a worldwide remnant – because He has a plan and a purpose.
a. Yes, He judges sin and the consequences are often catastrophic – with incredible pain and suffering – but in the midst of judgment He is always working good from bad.
b. There is hope in the Lord! Genesis 12:3 is still in effect – as is the Great Commission; through Abraham’s example of Faith and Trust in the Lord, we can have the righteousness of God through Christ.
Prophets like Jeremiah in Judah and Hosea and Joel in Israel all offered the same Hope beyond the present judgment.
a. Jeremiah 29:11-; 70 yrs in the future
c. Joel 2:28-29 fulfilled in Acts 2 and then vs 30-32
And beyond this all remains a future rest for the people of God – Hebrews 4:9-13 – Hope remains – but this Hope is only accomplished His Way – according to His Plan; by His Word
Our Hope is Secure in Christ – because of His Great Sacrifice for us. He is God’s provision for our sin. He took our judgment.
