I am happy to include this preview of On Self-awareness that you can find at https://onself-awareness.com.
Thanks for joining me today.
I have gathered examples of self-awareness situations for your consideration. They will help you to see the range of interpersonal snippets where self-awareness is critical. People have expectations of us and our ability to understand the expectation and respond accordingly is essential.
For most of the situations, you can leave your self-awareness on auto. You will likely respond appropriately without giving it any special thought. We cannot be continuously self-aware 24/7. Now and then though, we need to bring our self-awareness front and center.

When might you need to bring your self-awareness to the forefront?
Is this the first time you have been in this situation with this person?
Are you getting a negative vive from the other person?
Are you having an uncomfortable emotional reaction to the situation?
Have you handled this particular type of situation poorly with this person or with someone else?
Are you getting the impression that you are about to handle the situation differently than is your norm?
As you can see, you are on alert for red flags.
As you consider the examples, I suggest you just listen and quickly think about whether this is a situation where you can just keep your self-awareness on auto and let it play out as it will or if this is a situation where you need to turn up your self-awareness. That is a quick Yes or No.
You may also want to listen for examples where you might want to press pause and give the situation a little more thought, give it a self-awareness preview. What about the situation is throwing up a red flag for you?
I’m going to start with a short thought or so about sticking to the high road and then we will get into the examples.

Thanks for listening. I hope you have a somewhat better perspective on the range and scope of situations where self-awareness can be critical. In future episodes of On Self-awareness, I will be exploring other areas and situations where self-awareness can make the difference for you and for others who need to interact with you. We will also be spending time considering situations and circumstances where other people are not specifically involved but your self-awareness may be the central element of success or non-success.
Be well, do well and take a moment to do something nice for someone else. The cost is low and the reward may be nice for you and for the other person.
