Author and professional counselor Craig Lounsbrough said “An inheritance is what you leave with people. A legacy is what you leave in them.”

This quote has been heavy on my mind this week. Whether it is how we raise our children, or how we show up for clients, colleagues, and community, our legacies should clearly answer one question:

Did you make their lives better?

With children our legacy as parents is defined by the lessons we teach them - good and bad. Their relationships with money, food, work, physical fitness, studies, God, etc. all begin with mom and dad.

What is our legacy? Are we making their lives better with the examples we set?
