In recent news, convicted killer Alan Schoenborn of Merritt, B.C., who murdered his children in 2008, was granted unescorted leave from the psychiatric facility where he is being held. Schoenborn is soon to be granted leave for an extended period of up to twenty-eight days.
Christians have struggled with the shocking case of Alan Schoenborn in two respects. First, what are believers to make of the claim that he hears voices and that he suffers from paranoid schizophrenic delusions? Is this a case of demonic possession?
Secondly, if it is accepted that Schoenborn murdered his children as a result of either demonic deception or pscyhotic delusions, does this remove Schoenborn from moral culpability for the murder of his children?
