Around 10 minutes til 11:00 pm EST on December 8, 1980, John Lennon was shot 4 times at close range and killed on the street as he entered The Dakota building, where he lived. This happened in front of his wife Yoko Ono. It's an event that many remember. The loss to the music world is most likely huge, we'll never really know for certain, but Lennon wrote songs that are regarded not only as classics, but as being among the best ever written.Andy recalls that night in December 1980, and where he was and what he was doing at the exact moment he heard the news about Lennon. And despite 42 years of murders and gun violence, our nation is more violent today than it was back then. Have we learned nothing? Have we become a heartless society that will tolerate the mass murders of children in school and innocent people in public places? Because it happens regularly. The late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg had an opinion on the Second Amendment, which Andy discusses and paraphrases. Basically, RBG felt the 2A was obsolete and outdated. Andy agrees, and feels it needs to be updated since a few things have changed since the 2A was written. And we've lost a lot of people during those years that had a right to live their lives without being shot dead by someone. As of the end of November 2022, the United States has experienced over 700 mass shootings, and we still have to add in the month of December. Is this freedom? Are you really free when you live in fear of your life or the lives of your loved ones constantly? How many more, America?--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/federal-andy/message
