The prophecies of Jesus' birth occurred at a very dark time in Israel's history. Suffering under Roman occupation and the silence of God the Israelites had little reason to hope. But God had a plan and in 400 years Jesus Christ would be born bringing light into the darkness of the world. Jesus' birth brought hope to a world lost in darkness.
