If you're a pop star, should you be able to dodge military service? This seems to be the debate in Gulf in Korea at the moment. Their biggest export, BTS, a boy band with about four or five but seven members are apparently worth billions to the Korean economy. That's right. Billions. They're all in their twenties and creates still officially at war with North Korea on so all able bodied men and aged 18 to 28 must serve military service. There are some exemptions life for Olympic on Asian Games medallists and award winning classical musicians, which seems like a very simple group to define the debate centres around whether or not lesser deserving musicians and pop stars would apply for such treatment. Where do you draw the line in terms of who could be exempt from services that the next band down the line have sold half a million albums? What if you want to hold 100,000, but you're a huge hit on twitch? How do you measure success these days? Success enough to keep you out of the firing line? Quite literally. What if you're involved in a scandal that denigrates the name should the exemption be lifted. How would you feel if you're someone who works for charity or your doctor or nurse and your value to the community you live for far away's? Then he valued having the heart of the military machine that would probably be wiped out by a nuclear attack anyway. Because let's face it, if Kim Young is going to go, he's going to go Big. Dear Keith, we really don't mind military service. Elvis had to do his and he's still a legend. People boost morale and for there is a war, if only be handed to have some training at the same time, I'm sure we could come to some sort of arrangement about accommodation and dietary requirements and everything else that allows us to continue being pop stars. Deal BTS. It would be a nice example to the pop stars of the world if you did something for your country and would make you popular against amongst all young men in the world, have no choice but to do it possibly be the most decent king of pop star has done. I was going to sign off by using a line for one of your songs, but I don't know any. But after your Army years, I might find some
