I visited Shanghai a few times in my life. I was there as a child when my father was escaping with the Irish bunch of Navy at a time when skippers were allowed to bring their family to see because they could be at sea for years at a time. More recently, I landed. There is a comedian or an expert tour of China that also took in Hong Kong and Beijing thistles right before the pushback against democratic demonstrations in Hong Kong was often any pro democracy movement being crushed. It felt that the West was having more of an influence on Chinese way of life than Beijing may have liked, especially in places like Shanghai and Hong Kong. On while Hong Kong was obviously influenced by the British way of life, Shanghai had more of a European field that felt, I don't know, like a healthier and healthier mix of influences that could lead to attitudes changing in Chinese politics. As we've seen since the start of the pandemic, nothing could be further from the truth. And while many in the West have seen life back to normal for several months now, Shanghai has been one of the most severe lock down since the start of the pandemic. Dear Keith. Mere starving. We're dying. We've had a storm. We've had two storm supermarkets and supply points to help our family survive. There are in forces in the streets, some of not survive. There are horrific videos of how people have taken their own lives because they're starving to death. How has this happened? While the rest of the world seems to be operating relatively normally, Dear Shanghai. There's a history of brutal sacrifice in the name of the greater good, and it's hard to imagine there'll be a lot of trust for authorities when this is all over in China, where mistakes are made at this level, hundreds of thousands could die. The rest of the world is dealing with a lot right now, and not much in the way of assistance could be offered. But on top of this time, once carrying out military Jules is, they're worried about an opportunity invasion. Maybe when this is all over, questions will be asked. Revolts will continue, but for now, all we can do is continue to watch in the harbour
