How can you be more intentional about your leadership?
Drew Dudley defines the value impact as a commitment to creating moments that cause people to feel they are better off for having interacted with you.
His action-driving questions are
How have I recognized someone else's leadership today?
What conscious act of kindness did I perform today?
What did I do today to show someone they mattered?
What I love about how Drew looks at these values is that you intentionally look for opportunities in your day. By asking yourself one or all of the action-driving questions at the beginning of the day. This can push your comfort zone, allow yourself to step out, and be seen more through these actions. Making a bigger ripple effect…
As a leader, what do you want your ripple effect to be? Whose lives do you want to impact? And what purposeful action steps are you taking to make that happen? You might also want to ask yourself what action steps are you avoiding? What action steps are you not taking because you want to play it safe? Where are you hiding?
And this process can be a bit daunting, as it may be your edge and a bit scary. You don’t have to do it all at once. Take little steps to begin to be more purposeful about your leadership and the ripple effect it creates.
