Urban Indians represent a growing proportion of the Native population in the United States. Today, according to the U.S. Census, approximately 71 percent of American Indians and Alaska Natives live in urban areas. Federal policies and lack of reservation resources have driven Native people to live in urban areas.
This episode we will meet with our special guest, Marie Hernandez. She is the director of the Women's Lodge associated with the San Francisco Friendship House.
