In today’s episode of the podcast, our guest is senior advisor to the European Commission, Sieglinde Gruber. Sigi explains the context within which AtlantECO exists and how we are helping to address the objectives established in the Belem statement, which is the base for collaboration on research and innovation around the Atlantic basin.

From the signing of the Galway statement, to the establishment of the All-Atlantic Ocean Research Alliance and signing of the Belem statement, Sigi tells us how the priorities for research and innovation were set and why it is of crucial importance to address them through International, basin-wide, collaborations.

She also summarises the key points from the most recently signed agreement which defines what needs to happen next in Atlantic research and innovation, and how we can contribute to a successful delivery of its objectives.
