Trace amounts of sodium azide were found in Joe's blood and gastric contents. Indicating that he had been poisoned by way of ingesting food. Likely the substances had been laced into a soup or liquid and then eaten. Ultimately though, Joe’s cause of death was attributed to blunt force trauma and the stab wound.
