Some things are worth remembering.
“And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it He had rested from all His work which God created and made.”
- Genesis 2:2-3 (KJV)
Don’t live like you’re lost.
“...a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people.”
- 1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV)
A quirk of the weather…
“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
- 1 Thessalonians 4:17 (KJV)
The temptation is to do what you’re told.
“We ought to obey God rather than men.”
- Acts 5:29 (KJV)
The world’s first website was introduced.
“I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes.”
- Psalm 101:3 (KJV)
Your best days are ahead.
“[Jesus] saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office.… He said to him, ‘Follow me.’”
Make sure eternity is settled.
“God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for He shall receive me.”
They won’t be needing that.
“Do not be afraid when a man becomes rich and his wealth multiplies. For he will take nothing with him when he dies; his wealth will not follow him down into the grave.”
There’s nothing wrong with money, but… “They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him.”- Psalm 49:6-7 (KJV)
Temptation isn’t going away. “It is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.”- Philippians 2:13 (KJV)
It’s another thing altogether. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” - Revelation 3:22 (NKJV)
It could be depressing. “To him [or her] who overcomes I will grant to sit with me on my throne.”- Revelation 3:21 (NKJV)
“We’re going to spend quality time.”
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me.”
This really matters.
“If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me.”
There’s no choice, really. “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock.”- Revelation 3:20 (KJV)
Not everyone responds well.
“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.”
When God steps on your toes…
“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten.”
Clear, spiritual vision… “Anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.”- Revelation 3:18 (NKJV)
Everyone loves a good deal.
“Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.”
That’s your fitness for heaven.
“All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.”
Nothing ever fit so well. “Buy from me ... white garments, that you may be clothed.”- Revelation 3:18 (NKJV)
God wants everyone to be rich!
“I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich.”
Ignorance is not bliss. “...that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.”- Revelation 3:17 (NKJV)
In between is disastrous.
“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot.”
Wealth can be a trap. “I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing.”- Revelation 3:17 (KJV)
It’s important to be honest with God.
“Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.”
An urgent message…
“So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth.”
They were offended. “But He passing through the midst of them went His way.”- Luke 4:30 (KJV)
“I love you all.” “He shall see of the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied.”- Isaiah 53:11 (KJV)
You always have something to pray for. “My heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.”- Romans 10:1 (KJV)
There’s a tradeoff somewhere. “Godliness with contentment is great gain.”- 1 Timothy 6:6 (KJV)
That might be difficult. “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”- Romans 14:12 (KJV)
God’s blessing can get you through. “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.”- Genesis 6:8 (KJV)
The same will happen to you.
“...a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.”
Not remembering would be worse.
“There shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain.”
The simplest and yet one of the most difficult…
“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
Church and state united. “And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.”- Daniel 8:10 (KJV)
Like Roman ruins… “...came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.”- Daniel 8:9 (KJV)
He died young.
“And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.”
It seemed invincible. “I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.”- Daniel 8:4 (KJV)
It’s the Word of God. “In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar … I saw in a vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I was at Shushan in the palace, which is in the province of Elam.” - Daniel 8:1-2 (KJV)
Don’t be intimidated. “Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.”- Daniel 8:16 (KJV)
Smart people trust the Word of God. “I have more understanding than all my teachers, for Your testimonies are my meditation.”- Psalm 119:99 (NKJV)
It was one in 30 million! “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”- Psalm 139:14 (NKJV)
You can be right—and all wrong.
“Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”
- 1 Corinthians 1:10 (NKJV)
Give people the opportunity…
“We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden.”
- Genesis 3:2 (KJV)
Time is short.
“Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to your days fifteen years.”’”
- Isaiah 38:5 (NKJV)
God is THAT good!

- James 5:20 (NKJV)
In every language!
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth His handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.”
- Psalm 19:1-3 (KJV)
What is covering you?
“He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge.”
- Psalm 91:4 (NKJV)
This shouldn’t be an issue.

- Proverbs 20:7 (NKJV)
Food fight!
“Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.”
- Jonah 1:17 (KJV)
There has to be a better way.
“Leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.”
- Matthew 5:24 (NKJV)
The rest doesn't really matter.
“The integrity of the upright shall guide them, but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.”
- Proverbs 11:3 (KJV)
Dr. Christiaan Barnard was not the first.
“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.”

Figure out how to get along.

- Philippians 4:8 (KJV)
That seems like a lot.

There are things in the Bible like that.

You are treasured.

- Jeremiah 25:11 (KJV)
Let’s admit it.
“Thus saith the Lord to His anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will … open before him the two leaved gates, and the gates shall not be shut.”
- Isaiah 45:1 (KJV)
You have to chase them away.

He was tired of trusting God.
“And David said in his heart, ‘I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul.’”

There had to be a way.

The selfish heart is hard to subdue.

It raises the question…
“Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?”
- James 4:1 (NKJV)
They found out the hard way.
“He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.”
- Revelation 22:11 (KJV)
He never stopped learning.

It’s easy to forget.
“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

Let’s put this into practice.
“He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
- 2 Corinthians 5:15 (NKJV)
“I’m staying with them!”
“Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.”

It becomes a curse.
“Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled.”

Don’t confuse the gifts of God with your own greatness.
“Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord.”

It’s the last thing you want to do.
“Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.”
- Isaiah 58:1 (KJV)
Remember who you are.
“Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble.”
- Romans 12:16 (NKJV)
You are representing God.
“Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.”
- Romans 12:11 (KJV)
You don’t have to like it.
“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.”
- Romans 13:1 (KJV)
Don’t be like that.
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
- Romans 12:21 (NKJV)
Let others get the credit.
“Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another.”
- Romans 12:10 (KJV)
Don’t squander the opportunities.
“Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.”
- Romans 12:14 (KJV)
It did not apply to them.
“He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth.”
- Acts 17:26 (NKJV)
Trials are temporary.
“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”
They were envious.
“These last men have worked only one hour, and you made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.”
Who is this we’re talking about?
“Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, measured heaven with a span and calculated the dust of the earth in a measure? Weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?”
They wished they had done it years ago.
“The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.”
"Entirely exaggerated…”
“...justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”
You get influenced.
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
That’s why you’re here!
“Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth.”
- James 1:18 (NKJV)
There’s too much at stake.
“And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed.”
- Revelation 12:17 (KJV)
He expected the man to read.
“He [Jesus] said to him, ‘What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?’”
- Luke 10:26 (NKJV)
He didn’t tell the man.
“He said to him, ‘What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?’”
- Luke 10:26 (NKJV)
Selfish people would be lining up to go.
“Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
- Luke 10:25 (KJV)
He fell spectacularly.
“For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites."
- 1 Kings 11:5 (KJV)
What else was he going to say?
“My son, let them not depart from your eyes—keep sound wisdom and discretion.”
- Proverbs 3:21 (NKJV)
Most people don’t want to be saved.
“[Jesus] was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.”
- Romans 4:25 (NKJV)
You cannot earn it.
“To him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.”
- Romans 4:5 (NKJV)
How can you apply this to your life?
“He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God.”
- Romans 4:20 (NKJV)
Of course he did!
“[Ahaziah] did evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother.”
- 1 Kings 22:52 (KJV)
Figure out what’s truly important.
“Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.”
- Proverbs 31:30 (NKJV)
If you need to change direction, change direction!
“O man of God, thus hath the king said, ‘Come down quickly.’”
- 2 Kings 1:11 (KJV)
Fun is fun–when it’s fun…
“I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
- John 14:2-3 (KJV)
It will come naturally.
“And Ahaziah [King of Israel] fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, ‘Go, enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.’”
- 2 Kings 1:2 (KJV)
Heaven is on your side.
“There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
- 1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV)
Save yourself a lot of heartache.
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with my eye.”
- Psalm 32:8 (NKJV)
One of the best decisions you can make…
“Do not be deceived: ‘Evil company corrupts good habits.’”
- 1 Corinthians 15:33 (NKJV)
She placed herself in harm’s way.
“Christ died for our sins.”
- 1 Corinthians 15:3 (KJV)
They couldn’t find the river.
“It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.”
- Jeremiah 10:23 (NKJV)
Don’t dismiss God as cruel.
“When He slew them, then they sought Him: and they returned and enquired early after God.”
- Psalm 78:34 (KJV)
He couldn’t make it any clearer.
“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
- Romans 8:38-39 (NKJV)
“Victory is not a strong enough name…”
“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”
- Romans 8:37 (NKJV)
A powerful question…
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?”
- Romans 8:35 (KJV)
Here’s your assurance.
“It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.”
- Romans 8:34 (NKJV)
You know who wants you to think otherwise.
“Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns?”
- Romans 8:33-34 (NKJV)
You wouldn’t be here.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.”
- James 1:17 (KJV)
There is nothing God won’t do for you.
“He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?”
- Romans 8:32 (KJV)
There shouldn’t be any reason…
“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”
- Romans 8:31 (KJV)
Just say yes to God.
“Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified.”
- Romans 8:30 (KJV)
The choice is yours.
“For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
- Romans 8:29 (KJV)
That was the reason!
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.”
- Romans 8:28 (KJV)
Some things are hard to understand.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.”
- Romans 8:28 (KJV)
You don’t have to be an expert.
“Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”
- Romans 8:27 (NKJV)
That’s worth remembering.
“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
- Romans 8:26 (NKJV)
There’s patience, and there’s patience.
“But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.”
- Romans 8:25 (KJV)
The power of hope…
“For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?”
- Romans 8:24 (NKJV)
You can become numb.
“Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.”
- Romans 8:23 (NKJV)
Even creation will be blessed.
“For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.”
- Romans 8:22 (NKJV)
We will see for ourselves.
“For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.… Because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.”
- Romans 8:19, 21 (NKJV)
Bring that thinking to matters of faith.
“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
- Romans 8:18 (KJV)
That’s not even a great question to ask.
“And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together.”
- Romans 8:17 (KJV)
What kind of faith would Christianity be?
“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.”
- Romans 8:16 (NKJV)
The father you can trust…
You received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’”
- Romans 8:15 (NKJV)
You have a bright future!
“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’”
- Romans 8:15 (NKJV)
Are you settling for crumbs?
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
- Romans 8:14 (KJV)
Two roads, two directions…
"For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.”
- Romans 8:13 (NKJV)
Shun debt like the plague?
“Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.”
- Romans 8:12 (KJV)
You know the feeling.
“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”
- Romans 8:11 (NKJV)
Let today be the day.
And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.”
- Romans 8:10 (KJV)
No salvation?
“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His.”
- Romans 8:9 (KJV)
We need that.
“So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.”
- Romans 8:8 (KJV)
Not everyone wants to confront this.
“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.”
- Romans 8:7 (KJV)
The whole thing is unnecessary.
“To be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
- Romans 8:6 (KJV)
You do your best to avoid it.
“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
- Romans 8:6 (KJV)
You CAN ignore the truth.
“For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.”
- Romans 8:5 (KJV)
That man was not alone.
“For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.”
- Romans 8:5 (KJV)
Jesus figured it out.
“That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
- Romans 8:4 (KJV)
Is that an excuse?
“For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh.”
- Romans 8:3 (KJV)
It doesn’t have to be that way.
“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”
- Romans 8:2 (KJV)
That’s the issue.
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
- Romans 8:1 (KJV)
You would be more careful.
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?”
- Romans 6:1 (KJV)
It’s nice and simple.
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
- Romans 5:1 (KJV)
“The more it is chewed, the more pleasant it is.”
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.”
- Romans 1:16 (NKJV)
You’re making an even bigger mistake.
“Sin shall not have dominion over you.”
- Romans 6:14 (KJV)
How did that happen?
“For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing.”
- Ecclesiastes 9:5 (KJV)
A small seed can become a big tree.
“The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field.”
- Matthew 13:31 (KJV)
People fell for it.
“Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.”
- John 17:17 (NKJV)
Don’t listen to the devil.
“For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.”
- John 3:17 (KJV)
Always and every time…
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Today they’re museums.
“There shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
Calling God a liar?
“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you.”
There isn’t a balance. “For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.”- Romans 8:13 (NKJV)
Chemically-reinforcing behavior…
“Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”
She would have felt love.
“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
The hate melted away.
“If you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
You can’t be defeated.
“I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy.”
You’ve been invited.
“Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.”
If you’re willing…
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
She knew exactly what to do.
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with my eye.”
God will keep you.
“Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”
They’re not enlightened or wise.
“...whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”
A graphic answer...
“...whose minds the god of this age has blinded.”
They’re ungrateful and disrespectful.
“His compassions fail not.”
He had told the stories for years.
“‘How did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless.”
They wanted heaven, but only if…
“From that time many of His disciples went back, and walked no more with Him.”
If you want to be part of that…
“...[pray] for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel.”
The numbers agree.
“The Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.”
How many times did it help?
“The wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.”
It isn’t necessary or fair.
“Debate your case with your neighbor, and do not disclose the secret to another.”
Turkeys!
“He who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves.”
He thought the case was closed.
“I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for my own sake; and I will not remember your sins.”
She now speaks with a foreign accent.
“Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt.”
You don’t do anyone a favor.
“The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, and his glory is to overlook a transgression.”
Saying less is often best.
“When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, but he who restrains his lips is wise.”
There’s only one wise decision.
“They were astonished and said, ‘Where did this Man get this wisdom and these mighty works?’”
Pray in faith.
“I will contend with him who contends with you, and I will save your children.”
Moment by moment…
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Don’t wait.
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.”
You either believe God is God, or you don’t.
“Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?”
You renovate a house, not a human.
“When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.”
Things start to go right.
“Oh, that you had heeded my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.”
It shattered into innumerable pieces.
“But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Not this kind of King.
“When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take Him by force, to make Him a king, He departed again into a mountain Himself alone.”
It comes with a hefty price tag.
“Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me.”
That’s what God can do. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)
That hurts, doesn’t it?
“Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Apostasy.
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.”
Keep it under six teaspoons a day.
“Not my will, but Yours, be done.”
You won’t be able to trust your senses.
“...with all power and signs and lying wonders.”
Let Him do it! “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.” - Titus 3:5 (KJV)
Don’t measure yourself by your successes or your failures.
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.”
They fear they are lost.
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life.”
Every day.
“And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, He went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.”
You’ll see more victory.
“Every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.”
Don’t think you don’t have to fight.
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
That is more like karma.
“Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof.”
Edison got it wrong again and again.
“...first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head.”
Don’t take off the training wheels.
“In all your ways acknowledge Him.”
Recovery can be challenging.
“Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.”
Allow yourself to stay the course.
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden.” - Matthew 11:28 (KJV)
God could have, but chose not to do so.
“Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.”
It can be difficult.
“Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.”
Of course the accusation was false.
“And some of the Pharisees said to them, ‘Why are you doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath?’”
A day to look forward to…
“And some of the Pharisees said to them, ‘Why are you doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath?’”
It plagues everyone.
“And some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, ‘Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but God alone?’” - Mark 2:6-7 (NKJV)
He actually touches the man!
“And as soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.”
God wants that for you even more.
“Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, ‘I am willing; be cleansed.’” - Mark 1:41 (NKJV)
The magazine printed the poems.
“...the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders.” - 2 Thessalonians 2:9 (KJV)
What do you do in those moments?
“Let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.” - Isaiah 27:5 (KJV)
It’s the shortest commercial flight in the world.
“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” - 1 Thessalonians 4:17 (KJV)
This is what God values.
“He shall be great in the sight of the Lord.” - Luke 1:15 (KJV)
I have a dream today.
“I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” - John 14:2-3 (KJV)
If He made mountains…
"Who established the mountains by His strength.” - Psalm 65:6 (NKJV)
The preposterous doesn’t make sense.
“His hands formed the dry land.” - Psalm 95:5 (KJV)
You might as well throw away your Bible.
“The sea is His, and He made it.” - Psalm 95:5 (KJV)
He shows it’s possible.
“I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.”
There was no way out.
“The Lord thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten before Israel.”
This might be something you need to consider.
“But [they] were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.”
They simply believed.
“And the three hundred blew the trumpets, … and the host fled.”
The pain was unbearable.
“If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you.”
You’ll see much more of His blessing.
“So about three thousand men went up there from the people, but they fled before the men of Ai.”
It’s better to let it go.
“Love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing.”
Instead of responding with aggression…
“Let him alone, and let him curse…. It may be that the Lord will look on my affliction, and … repay me with good for his cursing this day.”
Who wouldn’t want that? “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” - 2 Corinthians 3:17 (KJV)
His mistakes were real.
“I have sinned greatly in what I have done; but now, I pray, O Lord, take away the iniquity of Your servant, for I have done very foolishly.”
“The devil told me the same thing.”
“A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.”
Here’s how strength is demonstrated.
“He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, but he who is impulsive exalts folly.”
Having a lot more isn’t always best.
“Prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”
Hours of futility…
“He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but whoever walks wisely will be delivered.”
Vengeance is for vengeful people.
“Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, ‘Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the Lord’s anointed?’”
It was then that he crashed hard.
“Keep the charge of the Lord your God: to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn.”
Taking your life in your own hands.
“He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.”
Falsehoods broadcast as news.
“If you abide in my word, you are my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Just evil.
“Those who see you will gaze at you, and consider you, saying: ‘Is this the man who made the earth tremble, who shook kingdoms?’” - Isaiah 14:16 (NKJV)
She didn’t know she had set a new world record.
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
He does.
“And they did not thirst when He led them through the deserts; He caused the waters to flow from the rock for them; He also split the rock, and the waters gushed out.”
It’s then that you’re in real danger.
“Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.”
The same temptation exists.
“...saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise.”
Remembering true strength of character.
“Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.”
I had to restrain one of them.
“As the churning of milk produces butter, and wringing the nose produces blood, so the forcing of wrath produces strife.”
Freedom has never been free.
“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.”
Why would anyone paint half a picture?
“He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.”
Not all wants are wrong, but…
“Hell and Destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.”
God believes in hard work.
“As a door turns on its hinges, so does the lazy man on his bed.”
We’ll keep searching.
“It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.”
It only helps the devil.
“Do not say, ‘I will do to him just as he has done to me; I will render to the man according to his work.’”
Seems strong, doesn’t it?
“Put a knife to your throat if you are a man given to appetite.”
His friend snapped.
“Make no friendship with an angry man, and with a furious man do not go.”
It’s easier for the church to check out.
“Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor will also cry himself and not be heard.”
Crime doesn’t pay.
“Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.”
You can’t always get what you want.
“Chasten your son while there is hope, and do not set your heart on his destruction.”
Less damage that way…
“He who answers a matter before he hears it, it is folly and shame to him.”
You’re worth more to God than that.
“The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the hearts.”
Fortunes were made and lost.
“How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!”
Before you quit your job or quit college…
“Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.”
She was an absolute tower of strength.
“The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her hands.”
Greedy, dishonest people.
“Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, but he who gathers by labor will increase.”
Integrity demands it.
“The lazy man does not roast what he took in hunting, but diligence is man’s precious possession.”
Everyone can participate.
“The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.”
Sometimes less is more.
“In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.”
If you’re willing, He’ll give you the power.
“Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.”
Nothing else matters nearly as much.
“Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.”
Religion does not excuse sin.
“I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.”
What kind of person does that?
“...one who sows discord among brethren.”
That moment of madness is never worth it.
“For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil; but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.”
I watched with horror as…
“Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established.”
No doubt you didn’t enjoy it.
“My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of His correction.”
That can’t be true.
“The Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.”
The devil did not make you do it.
“My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.”
You don’t need a PhD to know…
“The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God.”
It will make a fool out of you, too.
“Because you have abused me.”
Is God punishing the children?
“I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.”
t’s better to learn contentment.
“But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints.”
Most people admit they lie.
“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).”
That would be none, ever.
“Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.”
If there’s a way to game the system, people will find it.
“Thou shalt not steal.”
Maybe it’s time to make that call.
“‘Honor your father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with promise: ‘that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.’”
Millions are drawn away.
“For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day.”
He has been showing us for thousands of years!
“The Sabbath was made for man.”
That will impact your heart.
“Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.”
What it is, is sin.
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them.”
It’s well worth looking within.
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”
This will keep you free.
“I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.”
Misunderstandings often arise.
“When the children of Israel heard of it, the whole congregation of the children of Israel gathered themselves together at Shiloh, to go up to war against them.” - Joshua 22:12 (KJV)
Sinners don’t need to be cheered on.
“Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.”
Aim high. Aim to grow.
“...Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”
So you might live.
“Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth.”
Don’t let it be for nothing.
“My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?”
That’s not fair, is it?
“God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son.”
Dishonesty can be hard work.
“The truthful lip shall be established forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment.”
One man did an immense amount of damage.
“In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”
You might want to think again.
“...the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.”
Intended for your eternal good…
“When Thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness.”
It was buried 70 years before.
“When you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors!”
The greatest deceptions are still to come.
“They worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast.... And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”
You’ve never been worse off because you trusted God.
“In the beginning God created.”
Don’t make excuses!
“Who has made man’s mouth? … I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.”
Watch your spiritual life take off!
“Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.”
Gone are the days…
“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
It was life-threatening!
“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”
You ought to be proactive.
“I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.”
We can learn from that.
“It was not you who sent me here, but God.”
He had been imprisoned for life.
“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you.”
His example speaks.
“The Lord was with him, and that which he did, the Lord made it to prosper.”
Not what I was expecting!
“Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.”
One person didn’t mind a bit.
“Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours.”
They landed right on their behinds!
“The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”
Forty years later they made a decision.
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations.”
It can ruffle your feathers.
“The words of the wise are as goads.”
It can be done.
“Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God.”
The inside matters most.
“Follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”
A funny thing happened on the way to the Second Coming.
“They sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.”
That’s teamwork!
“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things.”
He fled the scene of the crime.
“Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Exert force in opposition.
“Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
There’s something else that’s crucial.
“Submit yourselves therefore to God.”
Other days, maybe less…
“Yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead.”
It doesn’t work for Christians.
“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above.”
They put it right out of their minds.
“I have lift up mine hand unto the Lord, the Most High God, the possessor of heaven and earth.”
What he did was reprehensible.
“Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.”
Things became utterly toxic.
“And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face.”
The world would be a much different place.
“The Lord God of heaven … will send His angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there.”
He sent a servant hundreds of miles!
“You shall go to my country and to my family, and take a wife for my son Isaac.”
-Genesis 24:4 (NKJV)
He was not a perfect man.
“And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.”
He submitted to the will of God.
“And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.”
His commitment was phenomenal.
“Now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”
It’s a colossal responsibility.
“I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him.”
That’s the parents’ role.
“I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him.”
You might serve an angel.
“Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”
Vital and vibrant every day…
“They received not the love of the truth.”
That’s something we can learn from.
“Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed for Thessalonica.”
Prepare to be ready.
“Be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man cometh.”
Advice from someone who knows…
“Pass the time of your sojourning here in fear.”
I thought that was weird.
“If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.”
That thinking makes a mistake.
“He is the Rock, His work is perfect: for all His ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He.”
Tens of millions of gallons…
“For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.”
More magnificent than you could imagine…
“...God, who formed the earth and made it, who has established it, who did not create it in vain, who formed it to be inhabited.”
Too many claim the forgiveness without claiming the cleansing.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
He stands as a warning.
“But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the Lord God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin.”
Not yet…
“The Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.”
There’s something more important.
“Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.”
Everything that could have gone wrong did not.
“You shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
It was the last place he wanted to be.
“All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of Caesar’s household.”
It’s good to know that.
“All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
A tool in the devil’s hands…
“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey?”
Don’t get the cart before the horse.
“They were judged every man according to their works.”
The importance of attending church…
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together…”
Sure, but…no.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.”
There is no limit.
“This is the will of God, even your sanctification.”
God provides the power.
“For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”
Distracted?
“Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…”
It’s just that simple.
We all ... are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
The miracle of creation…
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”
Greater than you realized…
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
A safeguard against the stresses of modern life…
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.”
This isn’t mind over matter.
“Reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
You should try it.
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live.”
You’ve been doing it so long.
“If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
Here’s what you do.
“You shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
He injects himself with blood.
“Whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
It didn’t work out well.
“It is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”
It’s the only logical thing.
“To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with me on my throne, as I also overcame and sat down with my Father on His throne.”
This is what HE wants.
“If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me.”
Only you can open the door.
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock.”
He says it in love.
“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.”
He offered the solution.
“Anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.”
The man tried to bribe Paul.
“Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you.”
Evolutionary theory is a god.
“You shall have no other gods before me.”
You’ll fall less and less.
“He withdrew Himself into the wilderness, and prayed.”
Death isn’t the end.
“I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction.”
The view is very limited.
“He requested for himself that he might die.”
Jesus talked about this a lot.
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
One thing you can’t put off any longer…
“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
It went on for generations.
“How long halt ye between two opinions? If the Lord be God, follow Him.”
God again…
“They did eat, and left thereof, according to the word of the Lord.”
An expression of love for God…
“Cursed is the one who moves his neighbor’s landmark.”
It won’t. Ever.
“For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
That’s exactly what it is.
“Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry.”
Turns out they could help it.
“It is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”
Impact your corner of the world.
“Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.”
Your failures don’t consign you to failure.
“He shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in Him.”
That’s all right. But…
“Surely, shall one say, ‘In the Lord have I righteousness and strength.’”
God offers it to you right now.
“I counsel you to buy from me … white garments, that you may be clothed.”
He’ll give it to you.
“I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich.”
They didn’t realize their true condition.
“Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.”
Not ordinarily a voluntary action…
“So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth.”
That’s a major victory for darkness.
“So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth.”
There’s nothing more important.
“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot.”
Desperately needed…
“...the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God.”
That isn’t flirting…
“Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.”
Every church ought to be one.
“Thou hast kept the word of my patience.”
He was offended by that.
“There is precious treasure and oil in the home of the wise, but a foolish person swallows it up.”
Ultimately, it’s all that matters.
“Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect [or fulfilled] before God.”
They’ll be lost.
“He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before my Father and before His angels.”
He still raises the dead.
“You have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.”
When your grip is slipping…
“Even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.”
People got it dead wrong.
“Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us.”
That was incredibly gracious.
“But I have a few things against you.”
There are worse things than dying.
“Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
He’s been there too.
“...the First and the Last, who was dead, and came to life.”
They hadn’t done anything wrong.
“Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
Bibles don’t read themselves.
“Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works.”
Stultifying formalism…
“I will ... remove your lampstand from its place.”
Jesus didn’t cut them any slack.
“You have left your first love.”
It’s hard to understand.
“The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
People forget, don’t they?
“If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, … if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
It was an invitation.
“Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?”
They said he was dead, but he wasn’t!
“Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping.”
Temptation is a fact of life.
“But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.”
You will never be moved.
“He who does these things shall never be moved.”
“Stop buying lattes!”
“Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.”
He should have learned.
“He did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the Lord.”
That’s something you never outgrow.
“Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.”
Let them go on their own.
“It came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the Lord, and all Israel with him.”
The future would have been very different.
“My father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.”
No one wants to live with regret.
“One sinner destroys much good.”
A young person with a bright future…
“Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, ‘I have no pleasure in them.’”
What would you expect God’s response to be?
“Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.”
Assess how the influences in your life are leading you.
“When Solomon was old, … his wives turned away his heart after other gods.”
It got the better of him.
“He had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, whom he bestowed in the cities for chariots.”
It’s stunning how far you can fall.
“Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.”
It becomes precious.
“The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
We can’t say that about church!
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”
There are discoveries to be made.
“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises...”
Why would you do it?
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”
Special gifts are honored.
“The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
A dwelling place…
“And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.”
Where is your defense?
“He only is my rock and my salvation: He is my defense.”
An icon in Rio de Janeiro…
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
“Gentlemen, this is a football.”
“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
All four engines stopped! “He became the author of eternal salvation.” - Hebrews 5:9 (KJV)
This is what he learned.
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”
It overtook him completely.
“His heart was not loyal to the Lord his God.”
It was his first thought.
“Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil.”
He paid them anyway!
“To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.”
How much time do you think about…?
“I will remember the works of the Lord; surely I will remember Your wonders of old. I will also meditate on all Your work, and talk of Your deeds.”
A better day may never come.
“Now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
Things were getting serious.
“When He had made a scourge of small cords, He drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables; and said unto them that sold doves, ‘Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise.’”
The famous lighthouse was gone.
“The little foxes … spoil the vines.”
Don’t allow yourself to be led astray.
“Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”
There’s no shortage of people who will believe nonsense.
“I am that I am.”
Paul sharpens it up.
“They profess that they know God; but in works they deny Him.”
It was a shocking story.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Buried in the permafrost!
“Open Thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Thy law.”
Have you ever had to really wait?
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.”
An absolutely sure thing…
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Literally down the drain…
“Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy?”
What does this say about you?
“God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
You’d keep your distance.
“...that He might deliver us from this present evil world.”
That’s how faith works.
“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.”
More rattlesnakes than ever before…
“And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone.”
You can never repay this debt.
“Owe no man any thing, but to love one another.”
You don’t feel good about it.
“For you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?”
Sometimes it’s not funny.
“Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.”

Especially when they do something wrong…
“Repay no one evil for evil.”

Maybe there’s someone…
“Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.”

Wherever life takes you today…
“Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep; in journeys often, in perils of waters.”

“But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.”

Let them remember love.
“And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.”

Full steam ahead isn’t always best. “And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.” - Galatians 2:2 KJV

It cannot have been easy.

Pretty serious, isn’t it?
“Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave me no food; I was thirsty and you gave me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take me in, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ ... ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’”

You’ve added meaning to your life.
“I am among you as one who serves.”
Fudging the truth doesn’t advantage anyone.
“Let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No,’ lest you fall into judgment.”

“I have set the Lord always before me: because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.”

A simple concept.
“This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.”
Problem solved.
“There are three things that are never satisfied, four never say, ‘Enough!’: the grave...”
Make it your own.
“All shall know me, from the least to the greatest.”
It shouldn’t be first.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
What if you took it to heart?
“Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God...”

Willing and available?

Hang in there!
“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for He is faithful that promised).”
Who does that?

It was a bridge too far.
“One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor.”
There are times people make poor choices.
“Then Jesus beholding him loved him.”
The enemies were within feet of him.
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous run to it and are safe.”
How do you overcome temptation?
“It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”
When is Jesus going to return?
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only.”
The challenging answer many people aren’t ready for…
“An enemy has done this.”
Does God really love you?
“God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son.”
Is Jesus the divine Son of God?
“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you,”
Did Jesus come to this world?
“Jesus said unto them, ‘Verily, verily, I say unto you, before Abraham was, I am.’”
Is God truly God?
“By which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”
Some smart alecks tried to trip up Jesus.
“‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”
They expected it.
“And they watched Him, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath day; that they might accuse Him.”
They were affected.
“Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees.”
Nobody needed more signs.
“Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees.”
He offered the world nothing.
“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
“I will go away.”
“A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.”
A very serious statement…
“For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”
Your ministry might be different.
“But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
Without it you can’t be healthy.
“...who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
Everyone needs to be on guard.
“...fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them.”
Lousy day?
“And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.”
No matter what…
“But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.”
He’s doing the opposite of Jesus.
“And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up.”
He wanted people to think.
“And He spake many things unto them in parables, saying, ‘Behold, a sower went forth to sow.’”
Gone, just like that…
“Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.”
Here’s another reason you can…
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart.”
Every person alive…
“But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
“What's wrong with this?”
“Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”
It’s really pretty easy.
“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”
It wasn’t a fire after all!
“Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.”
Don’t make Israel’s mistake.
“When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to King Jareb: yet could he not heal you, nor cure you of your wound.”
If only we had our priorities straight…
“For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal.”
You’ll stumble sooner or later.
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
He was a wild man.
“And when He was come out of the ship, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit.”
Life can be tough.
“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort.”
Gog, Magog, and folklore…
“And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, and shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.”
It isn’t too late to change your mind.
“The righteousness of the righteous man shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression; as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall because of it in the day that he turns from his wickedness; nor shall the righteous be able to live because of his righteousness in the day that he sins.”
It’s hard to feel doubtful.
“Let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name.”
She had done something wrong.
“For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.”
A reminder…
“I set my rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.”
Vandals broke off the hands.
“For we are labourers together with God.”
You know how that turned out.
“Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness.”
Saved by the Word of God…
“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”
God has a plan.
“The testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”
No one is fooled by that.
“There are certain men ... turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness.”
Ten doctors told her nothing was wrong.
“Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.”
It was a gradual slide.
“This was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughter had pride, fullness of food, and abundance of idleness; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.”
Our influence is diminished.
“Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.”
There was nothing I could do about it.
“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.”
Strange monument…
“Count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.”
You’re much better off without it.
“Has a nation changed its gods, which are not gods? But my people have changed their glory for what does not profit.”
That was the difference.
“You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Some things can be changed.
“I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for my own sake; and I will not remember your sins.”
What does God see today?
“Surely, as a wife treacherously departs from her husband, so have you dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel.”
Diseases you can avoid!
“Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own.”
Your spiritual health depends on it.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
He kicked a hole in the wall!
“In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”
They didn’t appear to be hardened criminals.
“Lead us not into temptation.”
The grave couldn’t hold Him!
“She ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, ‘They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.’”
Don’t be fooled by those words.
“Then said Jesus, ‘Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.’ And they parted His raiment, and cast lots.”
That’s when it would happen.
“Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.”
That’s the message of the cross.
“God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.”
His heart was hard.
“Having received the piece of bread, he then went out immediately. And it was night.”
Let God worry about that.
“Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.”
We live in hope.
“I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
He ran like a chicken.
“Go, return on your way to the Wilderness of Damascus; and when you arrive, anoint Hazael as king over Syria. Also you shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi as king over Israel. And Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place.”
What can we know about God?
“And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love.”
Who are these people?
“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!’”
You don’t want to stay stuck.
“The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”
I know. Unfathomable...
“Oh, that you had heeded my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.”
It got a little exciting.
“Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
The lesson is too obvious to miss.
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
A bond between nations…
“Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.”
Before you condemn yourself…
“As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him.”
That’s not your concern.
“There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?”
Jesus already had it figured out.
“But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.”
Something to live for…
“When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.”
The man was dead, not alive!
“These things says He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: ‘I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.’”
This is not an option.
“You will seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart.”
It won’t work.
“That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
It’s that simple.
“Yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.”
You might say he’s crazy.
“The Son of Man came ... to give His life a ransom for many.”
You get the idea.
“Whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be my disciple.”
God is reasonable.
“‘Come now, and let us reason together,’ says the Lord.”
It happens to the blessed of us.
“I have been very zealous for the Lord God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.”
You get to choose.
“The angel ... raised him up, saying, ‘Arise up quickly.’ And his chains fell off from his hands.”
Watch them fly high!
“Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them.”
What can God’s strength do for you?
“Let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.”
It was a narrow escape.
“Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket.”
God loves that.
“He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.”
What if you don’t recognize His voice?
“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.”
God hears you!
“For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers.”
Could it be your undoing?
“The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep. There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.”
Be careful you don’t get hooked.
“The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold; and a man is tried by his praise.”
Run before it ruins you.
“Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.”
Maybe we need to learn from the animals.
“The ox knows its owner and the donkey its master’s crib; but Israel does not know, my people do not consider.”
- Isaiah 1:3 NKJV
Shaky foundation?
“I am my beloved's, and his desire is toward me.”
He promises He will.
“He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and He will pay back what he has given.”
Appealing, calling, drawing…
“Why should you be stricken again? You will revolt more and more. The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faints.”
That doesn’t come naturally.
“All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.”
The best way to handle things…
“Where there is no wood, the fire goes out; and where there is no talebearer, strife ceases.”
Don’t think you cannot!
“Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles.”
He drew maps every day.
“I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
Was David serious?
“O how love I Thy law! It is my meditation all the day.”
It’s the most valuable thing you own.
“I rejoice at Your word as one who finds great treasure.”
It’s time to start growing.
“Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles.”
Fantasies aren’t helping.
“For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds.”
A deadly rise in infections…
“Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.”
Did you see that?
“O Israel, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield. O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield. You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield.”
Death isn’t life after life.
“The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence.”
Nothing can change it.
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.”
Don’t rush past Cezanne or Monet. Or God.
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God.”
When do you cross the line?
“Do not weary yourself to gain wealth; stop dwelling on it. When you set your eyes on it, it is gone. For wealth certainly makes itself wings like an eagle that flies toward the heavens.”
He altered the world.
“Let’s not become discouraged in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not become weary.”
There’s no workable answer.
“They took his head, and his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry tidings unto their idols, and to the people.”
And that’s the key.
“If riches increase, do not set your heart on them.”
Nature speaks.
“You alone are the Lord; You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and everything on it, the seas and all that is in them.”
It takes God to do that.
“But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.”
“One man loved the pilgrim soul in you.”
“What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? Wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?”
It will soon be forgotten.
“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”
It could have been catastrophic.
“The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust.”
He bought 12,000 containers of pudding!
“The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
We’re taught to covet from the day we’re born.
“For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.”
“No good thing…”
“The Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
Instead of worrying about others…
“Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase.”
Beautiful pictures of God…
“A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation. God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity.”
It comes with a guarantee!
“‘Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, and try me now in this,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘if I will not open for you the windows of heaven, and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.’”
They thought it was worth $30.
“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”
How is your trust in God?
“Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.”
He was overwhelmed and overmatched.
“Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.’”
It could have defined his legacy.
“So it was, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, ‘It is the king of Israel!’ Therefore they surrounded him to attack; but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him, and God diverted them from him.”
Here’s an example worth imitating.
“Then the messenger who had gone to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, ‘Now listen, the words of the prophets with one accord encourage the king. Therefore please let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak encouragement.’ And Micaiah said, ‘As the Lord lives, whatever my God says, that I will speak.’”
The truth can be a challenge.
“There is yet one man, by whom we may enquire of the Lord: but I hate him; for he never prophesied good unto me, but always evil.”
It was a difficult time to be alive.
“They taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the Lord with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people. And the fear of the Lord fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.”
The best thing is to reverse course.
“Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in a prison house; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people the same time.”
It can happen.
“Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of the Lord and of the king’s house, and sent to Benhadad king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus.” - 2 Chronicles 16:2 KJV
She could no longer be queen.
“And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.” - 2 Chronicles 15:16 KJV
God points out reality.
“Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.” - 2 Chronicles 15:2 NKJV
A continual surrendering of the heart to God...
“[Asa] commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.” - 2 Chronicles 14:4 KJV
His heart was surrendered to God.
“So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God.” - 2 Chronicles 27:6 KJV
That’s not success.
“‘Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his riches; but let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,’ says the Lord.” - Jeremiah 9:23-24 NKJV
A lot of people are fine until…
“But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction.” - 2 Chronicles 26:16 KJV
He forgot what made him great.
“As long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.”
That’s where you want to be.
“But a man of God came to him, saying, ‘O king, do not let the army of Israel go with you, for the Lord is not with Israel—not with any of the children of Ephraim.’”
In what world does that make any sense?
“And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart.”
It’s time to make a stand.
“Athaliah rent her clothes, and cried, ‘Treason, treason.’”
She was an odious character.
“His mother was his counsellor to do wickedly.”
God is able to keep you.
“Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.”
It need not happen.
“They conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the house of the Lord.” - 2 Chronicles 24:21 KJV
Our sinful nature begs us…
“Now after the death of Jehoiada came the princes of Judah, and made obeisance to the king. Then the king hearkened unto them. And they left the house of the Lord God of their fathers, and served groves and idols: and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their trespass. Yet He sent prophets to them, to bring them again unto the Lord; and they testified against them, but they would not give ear.” - 2 Chronicles 24:17-19 KJV
We’re going home soon.
“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” - 1 Thessalonians 4:17 KJV
God gets to have the last say.
“Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” - 1 Corinthians 10:31 NKJV
That will be a good day.
“They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” - Isaiah 11:9 NKJV
There’s a great day coming.
“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.” - Isaiah 11:6
We may see the majesty of God!
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.”
Interesting creatures, chameleons...
“Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
Anteaters, elephants, and giraffes!
“He spake, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.”
Once and for all...
“I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
There’s so much data these days.
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
You lose out when you hold out.
“Now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”
-Romans 13:11 KJV
Let’s not waste the gift!
“But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”
The new norm...
“For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.”
Not always detected...
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Watch how you walk.
“That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
It could have turned out badly.
“Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any.”
There would have been some desperation.
“That evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming.’”
Stuck in the mud?
“A scoffer seeks wisdom and does not find it, but knowledge is easy to him who understands.”
The idea is right on.
“A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.”
It’s all there in the book.
“And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
Not a good luck charm...
“More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.”
He corrected his course of action.
“Today you have disgraced all your servants who today have saved your life, … in that you love your enemies and hate your friends.… I perceive that if Absalom had lived and all of us had died today, then it would have pleased you well.”
You don’t want to infect others.
“The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”
It’s important.
“Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.”
Much ado about nothing much...
“We which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
The 90-Year-Old Space Traveler
What a track record!
“Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done.”
You just sort of get used to it.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV
We don’t have long.
“Lord, make me to know my end, and what is the measure of my days, that I may know how frail I am.”
Watch them thrive!
“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.’”
Remember the selfish, crazy woman?
“You shall not circulate a false report. Do not put your hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.”
You can expect that.
“But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me.”
What should he do now?
“It happened after this that David inquired of the Lord, saying, ‘Shall I go up to any of the cities of Judah?’ And the Lord said to him, ‘Go up.’ David said, ‘Where shall I go up?’ And He said, ‘To Hebron.’”
It was a delicate situation.
“Now the men of Ephraim said to him, ‘Why have you done this to us by not calling us when you went to fight with the Midianites?’ And they reprimanded him sharply. So he said to them, ‘What have I done now in comparison with you? Is not the gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abiezer? God has delivered into your hands the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb. And what was I able to do in comparison with you?’ Then their anger toward him subsided when he said that.”
I shall never forget…
“Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season.” - Hebrews 11:25 KJV
Are we that way with the Bible?
“Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, ‘Has God indeed said, “You shall not eat of every tree of the garden”?’” - Genesis 3:1 NKJVThe Contradiction
He was quite convinced…
“Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it.”
Let your example speak.
“Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the Lord.”
You can have peace in this world.
“And the work of righteousness shall be peace.”
They stopped and saved him.
“When we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son.”
He could hardly be more clear.
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” - Joshua 1:8 NKJV
It’s not God’s Plan A for everyone.
“Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.”
It can happen in no time at all.
“They forsook the Lord God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods.”
“I think you have a problem!”
“For whom the Lord loves He corrects, just as a father the son in whom he delights.”
But it’s still sin.
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality.”
Don’t lose sight of the goal!
“This is the will of God, even your sanctification.”
He was more than a hero.
“God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son.”
We can’t afford to forget.
“For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition which I asked of Him.”
The tide is going to rise.
“Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren.”
Here’s how you see it.
“I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, ‘You shall not covet.’”
He broke out of prison.
“Yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead.”
They could change the world.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.”
Hard to forget...
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
He galvanized a nation.
“Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”
The British are coming?
“And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.”
Words can have a great impact.
“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”
“Not because they are easy, but because they are hard.”
“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”
Shot on stage!
“God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” - Ecclesiastes 12:14 KJV
Pray for the opportunity...
“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people.”
Not a reenactment...
“And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”
Words have power.
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, … a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
You don’t want to forget.
“For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.” - John 3:17 KJV
It will stop you in your tracks.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” - 1 Peter 5:8 KJV
You have an enemy.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
The stakes are high.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
The road can seem long at times.
“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.”
She vented at Jesus!
“Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, ‘Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.’”
Whatever it is, it’s all right!
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
She punched a mountain lion in the face!
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Gold-encrusted opulence...
“The Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
She gave away billions.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
That’s pretty simple.
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
A loss could kill you!
“I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and I will glorify Your name forevermore.”
That’s not God’s way!
“All the brothers of the poor hate him; how much more do his friends go far from him! He may pursue them with words, yet they abandon him.”

Whether it works out or not…

Jesus didn’t believe that.

What if you did the same?

He knew they had done wrong.
