KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Whatever you can conceive in your mind and you believe it, you can achieve it. I grew up in the slums of India where I lived on one meal a day and moved to Canada in 1976 because I saw it as a land of opportunity. I wouldn’t have changed a thing about my journey. I’m honoured to be who I am today, I’m making a difference in this world trying to teach the whole world how to use their mind, to conceive their ideas, believe in them and achieve it.
  • When I was 7 my uncle took me to see my first movie, it was James Bond. I didn’t understand a word of English and the theatre was run down, dark and dingy. There was a scene where James Bond was having coffee with a stunning blonde in a café in Zurich and somehow that scene stuck in my mind. I asked my uncle why such a young woman had so many grey hairs, because I’d never seen a blonde before! Then every time I went to school and a reference to Europe or Switzerland came in that scene would come into my mind. It started to get more frequent and I started to think I’ll actually go to that coffee shop one day and after university I got offered a scholarship to do my Masters in Canada, so I asked my travel agent to fly me via Zurich. From that point on I decided never to think small.
  • Mindset is not saying “I’m going to lift this desk with one hand”, I don’t have the capacity to do that, it’s not believable. But, if I say “I’m going to have this desk moved from here to here” I can do that by getting other people to help me to move it. I have the capacity in my mind to get other people to help me. You can only achieve when your goal or your thoughts are consistent with your capacity to apply that thought and work on it to change the action otherwise you can’t take the action.
  • The greatest natural resource in this country isn’t minerals, timber, forests, lakes, oil, it’s our mind. It has the potential to think about digging up minerals etc. When you buy land you don’t just buy the land you buy the potential of that land. Every human being has the potential, but because of our society that potential lies dormant in most human beings.

BEST MOMENTS

‘We don’t know when the turning point will come in our lives, they come at unexpected times and places.’
‘It’s not a question of whether you have the money, the resources, or the connections, if you make up your mind to do something all these things start to come to you automatically.’
‘Success leaves clues and your mind needs to be tuned to be able to see these clues.’
‘Right from birth we have people telling us not to set our goals too high in case we get disappointed, when we grow up we have people in authority making sure we don’t use our potential, you’re not even aware your potential has been held back.’
