Big Idea: God has plans for each of His children and He meticulously prepares us to execute those plans. Understanding joseph: Joseph resolves a lot of the problematic threats presented in the narrative. He is used by God to resolve dangerous threats to the covenant line. Joseph is a problem solver, a threat eradicator, he is a type of savior. 1. God prepares us by testing our commitment (vs 2) 2. God prepares us through difficulties and mistreatment (vs 3-11)
Big Idea: Compromise and assimilation with the world are batttles that God's people of all ages have to fight. Why is this included in Scripture? I. Big Idea: The way of wisdom is to receive correction graciously and respond to it appropriately. How we respond to correction is one of the clearest indicators as to whether we are wise of foolish, for only the wise are correctable. 1. Receiving Correcting Counsel 2. Big Idea: Children belong to the Lord not to the parents and hence they should raise them the Lord's way. Proverbs 22:6 - the call to train a child "The way" - is used over 70 times in Proverbs, and usually it speaks of one's way of life. Throughout the book of Proverbs, we see two ways: the wise way and the foolish way. A parent can train their child for the wise path or for the foolish path. 1. Children need to be corrected 2.
