One of the hardest things about seeing our children in pain is that it can be a reminder of our own wounds. When my son broke his arm, I was reminded of the times I had been physically and emotionally hurt. And in that moment, I had a choice to make. I could either avoid my pain or face it head-on. Thankfully, I chose the latter. And as a result, I was able to begin the healing process – not just for myself but for my son as well.
