How far has your school pride and spirit taken you? I think most fans would agree that you can be a million miles away from Pullman but that Cougar Pride is hard to shake.
But has your Cougar pride resulted in a WSU tradition that’s been going on for almost 20 years?
Every Saturday on ESPN during football season, Cougar alums and fans around the country have been viewing the efforts of an organized grass-roots group led by WSU alums since 2003.
And today’s guest has been an integral part of this movement since the beginning –when a side hustle he picked up from Tom Pounds turned into a WSU tradition.
Yep! I am talking to the one and only CJ McCoy, President of Ol’ Crimson and ‘98 WSU alumni, who still keeps to his WSU roots with a crazy passionate side hustle that has everything to do with Coug Nation.
After graduating from WSU, CJ pursued higher education and now lives across the country, working as a Provost at Shenandoah University. Now, he’s on the CougsFirst! Podcast to talk all about his experience at WSU, how the Ol’ Crimson streak on ESPN gameday got started, a behind the scenes look at the logistics involved in getting the WSU flag to the right location, and why they are always looking for passionate volunteers to be part of this long-standing tradition. Plus, he’s sharing his 4 best tips for new university students that will set them up for success.
It’s a great episode filled with tradition, gumption, perseverance, and school pride! You don’t want to miss it, so press that play button!
