Hormones are your body's toolkit for birth - interacting with one another to prepare your body for labour; coordinate effective contractions; and ensure the sensations of labour are manageable for your body.
In this episode we'll be going through 5 of the main hormones involved in birth: oxytocin, endorphins, adrenaline, melatonin & prostaglandins. There are many more but I had to draw the line somewhere... definitely something we'll be revisiting in another episode!
Toward the end of the episode I read from Dr Sara Wickham's book 'In Your Own Time'. Sara's website is a goldmine of evidence based birth information, all available for free. She has written many brilliant books on subjects such as induction of labour, vitamin K, Group B Strep. She has a knack for breaking down complicated medical information, making it more accessible and in turn helping families make informed decisions that they feel confident in. If you enjoy The Hypno-WHAT Podcast, I would be so delighted if you could take a couple of minutes to rate & review the show. It tells the podcast gods & goddesses that my content is useful and helps it reach more people, spreading the good word of birth far & wide! I would also love for you to connect with me on insta at www.instagram.com/birthingparentsclub to keep track of what I'm up to and see what Birthing Parents Club has in the pipeline!
