The Transfiguration of Jesus, encapsulated in Mark 9:2-9 and framed between two healings of the blind, not only marks a journey from spiritual blindness to enlightenment, but also serves to prepare the disciples for Jesus' impending crucifixion in Jerusalem. At today’s preliminary sermon leading to Ash Wednesday, Br Lim Geok Seng explained how Jesus’ divine glory is revealed, and the presence of Moses and Elijah, representing the Law and the prophets, confirms His mission and death. God's voice from the cloud, affirming Jesus as His beloved Son and commanding the disciples to listen to Him, underscores the necessity of faith and obedience. These narratives together stress the importance of spiritual insight and faith in navigating the journey from recognising Jesus as God to the hope of eternal glory for us believers.
