In a special “Back to School” episode, we are joined by Celine Lamont, a High School English Teacher in Western Wisconsin. Celine works with students of varying abilities to help reengage them in the importance of English class, discussing how getting to know each student as an individual is the key to reigniting this passion. She shares her methods of helping students to recapture their love of reading and writing, including giving students choice in reading material, teaching them to break the “rules of writing” with a compositional purpose, and using rap lyrics to teach poetry. Over the years, Celine has experienced many successes with students and she shares one experience particularly close to her heart. The conversation closes with Celine expressing her hope for future writers, readers, and students.
