When it comes to sports in Mali, there are really only two to talk about: association football and basketball. The country’s success at the youth level in these two sports in recent years has led to an influx in Malians competing at a high level in their respective sport. While Mali is not quite a household name in global sports, the country looks primed to become one of the elite sporting nations on the African continent during the 2020s and beyond.
