With the rise of progressive ideas, the perspective that 'smaller bodies are better' is changing and we are calling for body positivity. In the previous episode, there was a bit where we raised our concern about how overweight models are normalizing obesity, which is just as harmful as skinny models promoting anorexia. We said that being a bit chubby was fine... but then I thought– what makes us determine what size is obese/anorexic? The fact is, that it all comes down to how we look. We are making judgments about these model's health based on how they look, and not thinking about the true purpose of their job, which is to present the designer's clothing on a diverse range of body types and sizes. While the claim that being over/underweight is unhealthy still stands, I wanted to rethink what society has taught us about weight in regards to health.Â
