This week we are looking at God making preparations for the birth of Jesus, the one every story we’ve read this year in the Jesus Storybook Bible has been pointing toward. God delights in doing the unexpected with the unexpected. God acted after Israel had been waiting for 400 years without a prophet and without a word from the Lord. No one was expecting the Savior to come. Both Jesus and his cousin John the Baptist would be conceived in unexpected ways and through unexpected people.

This Advent season we can learn that we should always be waiting well on God, that He is Sovereign in His plan, and he delights in doing the miraculous through ordinary people who have faith.
