As I VERY briefly mentioned in the episode, there are still places that are segregated in terms different groups of people living largely to themselves in areas/cities all over the country (the third link looks at that in depth). But technically, as a society, the United States is desegregated meaning that locations, water fountains, etc are for ALL people, as it should be.
