Trust and Forgiveness
If we can remember that our response to others is important, we can realize that trust and forgiveness can go hand in hand.
In life, there will always be times when we are affected by the actions of another person. When this happens, we often receive an apology. More often than not we say, "It's alright," or " It's okay," and by saying this we are allowing, accepting, and giving permission for the behavior to happen again. When we say "thank you," or "I accept your apology," we are forced to sit in our feelings rather than ignore them.

With Our Own Self
The most important relationship we will ever have in our life is with our own self.
Even though we are the only ones who are present at every moment of our lives, from birth onward this relationship can be the most difficult one to cultivate. This may be because society places such emphasis on the importance of being in a romantic partnership, even teaching us to set aside our own needs for the needs of another. Until we know ourselves, however, we cannot possibly choose the right relationship to support our mutual growth toward our highest potential.

Finding Your Next Phase In Life
It is when you are willing to listen to yourself and be fearless, that figuring out your phase becomes easy.
Our lives are made up of a complex network of pathways that we can use to move from one phase of life to the next. For some of us, our paths are wide, smooth, and clearly marked. Many people, however, find that they have a difficult time figuring out where they need to go next. Determining which "phase" will land you on the most direct route to fulfillment and the realization of your life purpose may not seem easy.

Let Go Of Perfection
Life becomes much more interesting once we let go of our quest for perfection and aspire for imperfection instead.
It is good to remember that one of our goals in life is to not be perfect. We often lose track of this objective. When we make mistakes, we think that we are failing or not measuring up. But if life is about experimenting, experiencing, and learning, then to be imperfect is a prerequisite. Life becomes much more interesting once we let go of our quest for perfection and aspire for imperfection instead.

Acknowledging Your Self-Worth
Your worth is not a product of your intelligence, your talent, your looks, or how much you have accomplished.
Though much of who and what we are changes as we journey through life, our inherent worth remains constant. While the term self-worth is often used interchangeably with self-esteem, the two qualities are inherently different. Self-esteem is the measure of how you feel about yourself at a given moment in time. Your worth, however, is not a product of your intelligence, your talent, your looks, your good works, or how much you have accomplished. Rather it is an immeasurable and unchanging manifestation of your eternal and infinite oneness with the world.

Dwelling In Guilt
Dwelling in guilt is like living your life with an anchor tied to your ankles, dragging you down.
Learning to accept the things that we perceive as wrong can be a difficult task for many of us. Often, we have been brought up to accept that it is normal to feel guilty about our actions and that by doing so we will make everything seem alright within ourselves. Even though we might feel that we have a reason to make up for the choices we have made, it is much more important for us to learn how to deal with them in a healthy and positive way, such as through forgiveness and understanding.

Where There is Darkness, There is Light
Anyone who has walked through despair and came out on the other side knows that even in that darkness, seeds of light can be found.
Branches often reach out of the gloom and into the daylight alongside the drifter who emerges from that deep sorrow. When we find ourselves in a place of despair, it can help us to know this, so that we don't give up. We can stop, take a deep breath, and remind ourselves that we will find ourselves on the other side of this troubled time and that we may even emerge with something new to offer.

Getting To The Other Side of Sadness
Sitting with our sadness takes the courage to believe that we can bear the pain and we will come out the other side.
As we approach the Holiday season, I have been reflecting on the last six months and thinking about all the families and friends that I know who have been affected by illnesses and the loss of loved ones. We may find it harder this year as we approach the Holidays to find joy or find ourselves sitting in our sadness trying to figure out how we will come out on the other side of our grief.
When my oldest son died and then 7 years later my husband died, I believed I was the only one who could understand what I was going through and no one could help me. When I finally found the courage to reach out it was the best thing I did for myself and for my youngest son.
I am asking all of you to please remember that you do not have to go through any of this alone. There is always someone to reach out to that would be more than willing to listen, all it takes is a little courage to reach out if you need any help dealing with sadness. I’ll be happy to leave my email address for anyone who wants to reach out and we can coordinate a time to talk if you need someone to talk to. (contact@WandaNordlie.com)

Capacity to Change
Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters causing ripples to spread as they move outward.
In a world with billions of people, it's easy to believe that the only way to initiate profound transformation is to take extreme action. Each of us, however, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others.

Allowing Ourselves to Feel
Taking the time to sit with your feelings to acknowledge them, will save you much distress down the road.
It can take great courage to really sit with our feelings, allowing ourselves to surrender to their powerful energies. All too often we set our feelings aside, thinking we will deal with them later. If we don't deal with them, we end up storing them in our minds and bodies and this is when anxiety and other health issues can arise.

Awareness
There is freedom that comes with awareness, because with it comes the opportunity to make a choice.
Life is a journey comprised of many steps on our personal path that takes us down a winding road of constant evolution. And each day, we are provided with numerous opportunities that can allow us to transform into our next best selves. One moment we are presented with an opportunity to react differently when yet another someone in our life rubs us the wrong way; on another day we may find ourselves wanting to walk away from a particular circumstance but are not sure if we can.

Overcoming Difficulties
Everyone must overcome difficulties, and everyone has been granted a unique set of talents with which to do so.
Our lives are an exercise in facing challenges. We dream the grandest of dreams as youngsters only to discover that we must cultivate an abundance of inner strength and determination in order to meet our goals. Our hard work does not always yield the results we expect. And it is when we find ourselves frustrated by the trials we face or unable to meet our own expectations that we are most apt to take notice of those individuals who appear to accomplish great feats effortlessly

New Spaces
Our lives are the result of all the doors we have walked through, and our continued growth depends on our willingness to keep moving into new spaces.
When a door opens, walk through it. Trust that the door has opened for a reason and you have been guided to it. Sometimes we have a tendency to overanalyze or agonize over the decision, but it is quicker to simply go through the door and discover what's there as that's the only way to know. Even if it doesn't seem right at first, opening this door may lead to another door that will take us where we need to go.

Journal With Purpose
Reflecting on journal entries, you may find you are just the help you need in your own life.
A journal can play many roles. It can be a friend, a vehicle of self-expression, a tool that facilitates clarity of thought, or a fountain of dreams. A journal can also be a powerful source of comfort during challenging or traumatic periods. When you record those insights and incidents that clearly demonstrate you are on the right track, you can return to your word’s days, weeks, or months later and find uniquely soothing reassurance.

Closure
The period of completion, rather than being just an act of conclusiveness, is also one of transition.
Life is a collection of beginnings and endings that run together like watercolors on paper. Yet before we can begin any new phase in life, we must sometimes first achieve closure at the current stage we are in, because many of life's experiences call for closure.

Shifting Towards Gratitude
The question of whether we or anyone else deserves something is not really in our power.
We all know what it's like to finally get something we want, only to find ourselves feeling as if we don't deserve it. Whether it's a car, a new job, or a date with someone special, we suddenly feel as if we are not up to it. Something in us wants to reject this gift, perhaps because it requires that we think of ourselves in a new way or makes us question why we should have something that others don't have.

Worrying Is An Extension of Fear
Worry is an extension of fear and can also set you up for attracting that which you don't want in your life.
We have all had the experience of worrying about something at some point in our lives. Some of us have a consistent tendency to worry, and all of us have known someone who is a chronic worrier. Worrying is an extension of fear and can be a very draining experience. In order for worry to exist, we have to imagine that something bad might happen.

Allowing Ourselves to be Heard
We all have a story to tell, whether you publish it or keep it to yourself, but allow yourself to be heard.
At one time or another, everyone has wanted to express his or her story. Writing a memoir to read privately, share with family or friends, or publish is an emotionally satisfying way to gain perspective on your experiences while sharing your unique voice. We've all experienced feelings and events in our lives that we are longing to write down. Giving in to that urge can give you an outlet for purging any frustration, anxiety, or unexpressed feelings.

Inner Clarity
When the world is in chaos, we can still have our own inner peace and maintain a sense of calm in sea of unrest.
People who maintain their sense of calm when things around them are in a state of flux and confusion are always wonderful to be around. We feel calmer just being near them, as if they have activated our own sense of inner peace. From them, we learn that we can be calm, even when everything around us is in turmoil, because we know that no matter what happens, this inner sense of calm will help us to function well. Often, times of confusion are the times that enable us to find that part of ourselves that knows how to cope, and how to be a light to others in the storm.

The Importance of Forgiveness
In order to forgive, we need to stop identifying ourselves with the suffering that was caused to us.
When someone has hurt us, consciously or unconsciously, one of the most difficult things we must face in resolving the situation is the act of forgiveness.
To label yourself good or bad is to think too small.
There is no such thing as a good person or a bad person. There are choices and actions that lead us in different directions, and it is through those choices and actions that we create our experiences.
When we learn to let go, more energy flows, and less effort is needed.
When we become overwhelmed and things are not going as planned, it is natural to hold tighter to our goals and try to force things to go our way.
Fear of the future can paralyze us, but we can allow it to unfold easier when we remain in the present moment.
The reward of disappointment is to bring us into reality so we don't get stuck in the beliefs of how things might have been.
At some point in our lives, there may come a time when we feel insecure about ourselves.
Our lives can be compared to an ongoing script over which we have complete control. Within us lies the power to examine what works or isn’t working in our lives and make “edits” to our life’s manuscript. Choosing to actively edit your life can be incredibly empowering. As you evolve, you have the choice to accept the manuscript you’ve written thus far or edit it so you can create a life that fulfills you. You can cut out from your life’s manuscript what is no longer working for you. Acknowledging that you are in control of the experiences you create gives you the ability to create the life you’ve always longed for.
Events from childhood, our first experiences, have the power to shape our lives. Some do immediately, offering us challenges to overcome and encouragement to make use of our talents and interests. In the process, character is built, and we make the first steps upon our personal paths. Some events seem to lay dormant until adulthood when our closest relationships help to bring out the deepest aspects of ourselves. This is when unexamined lessons can be used and neglected childhood wounds make themselves known in a call for healing.
