Moises Horta Valenzuela (aka hexorcismos) is an autodidact sound artist, technologist and electronic musician from Tijuana, México, working in the fields of computer music, artificial intelligence and the history and politics of emerging digital technologies. He crafts an uncanny link between ancient and state-of-the-art sound technologies channelled through a critical decolonial theory lens in the context of contemporary electronic music and the sonic arts.

In autumn 2021 Moises gave a workshop about sound synthesis with neural networks at Burg Giebichenstein and we’re happy to catch up with him again!

We’ll talk about how he expands his own musical practice in the field of Techno- and Noise music with Machine Learning algorithms, neural styletransfer, non-western sounds, indigenous ways of knowing, blurring the boundaries between sound and image, decolonizing AI aaaaaand more!
