Monthly Technology Focus: The focus on specific DoD Research & Engineering Strategic Vision and Critical Technology Areas will provide a detailed and in-depth analysis of technology development and investment within the Department of Defense. The discussion on the national and defense priorities and R&D investments from OUSD(R&E) will give listeners a clear understanding of the direction the DoD is heading regarding technology development. Additionally, the analysis of the Fiscal Year 2023 National Defense Authorization Act and the priorities for technology investments this year will give listeners a sense of the current priorities and funding levels for specific technologies. Overall, this series will provide valuable insights and information for those interested in defense technology and innovation.
The focus this month is “Microelectronics.” “Microelectronics are circuits and components that serve as the "brain" to human-made electronic functional systems. Virtually every military and commercial system relies on microelectronics. Diminishing microelectronics manufacturing in the United States and supply chain concerns have highlighted national economic and security risks. Working closely with industry, academia, and across the Government, the Department is addressing the need for secure microelectronics sources and will leverage state-of-the-art commercial development and production for microelectronic defense solutions.

The NC Innovation Ecosystem is a whole of state approach for National Security.“None of us is as strong as all of us!”Focus: DEFTECH researches and scouts for federal advanced technology opportunities to enhance the Warfighter and Warfighting Commands’ capabilities to overcome current and emerging threats.Purpose: Highlight the rapidly changing federal technology landscape. There are opportunities where NC companies can team up and submit to be very competitive in meeting emerging federal technology requirements.
