Some people go out of their way to make a difference and give back to others – sacrificing either their own goals, wants or needs for others.

There’s a new term to describe this and it’s called ‘Doing a Dubler’. In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Decathlon final, Australian Cedric Dubler sacrificed his own time to help push his teammate Ashley Moloney over the finish line – resulting in him claiming Australia’s first decathlon medal. Moloney claims that without the selfless act of his teammate Dubler, he wouldn’t possibly have made it onto the podium.

So why do people choose to make sacrifices for the greater good? What motivates those to prioritize the needs of others and leave a legacy behind?
