Ms. Karri, our VBS team, and all of our Uncharted characters helped bring the week to life as we celebrated the songs, stories, lessons, and fun that made VBS so special.

Typical kings, queens, and monarchs live above the people in places of comfort and privilege, even as their subjects suffer. However, Jesus was and is with us, living with us, and even suffering with us. In fact, in the end, Jesus endured every possible form of suffering imaginable. So, on this Palm Sunday, we'll see the suffering of Jesus, then see through the suffering of Jesus to the resurrection where there is victory over suffering and victory over death itself.

Monarchs throughout history, and monarchs today are better known for cruelty than they are for mercy. God Himself has historically been portrayed as being cruel, broodingly overseeing obedience or disobedience, delivering reward and punishments. Jesus, however, shows that God is merciful and kind toward us all, especially toward those who once thought of God as cruel.

"Life Plan" The new year is a great time to consider making some changes - and who knows - perhaps one sticks for the long term, making our lives just a little bit better. One of the great things about life is our ability to assess where we are and then tweak things here and there to get us to a better place, with better relationships, a healthier life, a steadier head, and a happier heart. Every Sunday we'll consider making some changes based on God's vision for our best life. It'll be a guilt-free, pressure-free, grace-based zone making a Life Plan and seeing what happens from there. In the First Century, some in the Roman church were excited about their freedom from the commandments of old, while others still wanted those commandments strictly obeyed. This infighting compelled the Apostle Paul to write the book of Romans, urging both sides to understand they are better together if they celebrate both the reality that they are free from the religious commandments but also free to do good.
