1 & 2 Peter are written by the Apostle Peter, one of Jesus’ closest disciples. The letters are written to Christians who are scattered all over who are living life as foreigners, not necessarily because of their geographical location, but because that is the reality all disciples of Jesus live under—after all, this world is not our home. Peter sends these letters to be shared among these Christians gathering all over as encouragement to them that as they suffer due to the unpopularity of following Jesus, and as their faith is challenged by false teaching, that if we stay focused on Christ, and live our lives according to God’s will, Come What May, we may be secure in Him.
