The exiles are home, the wall is completed and the people are rebuilding their relationship with God. But there's still a lot of work to do. Nehemiah 7:4 says "The city was wide and large, but the people within it were few, and no houses had been rebuilt." You can't have life without people, so Nehemiah's next step is to re-populate Jerusalem. To do this, he employs a kind of lottery system ("lots" - Proverbs 18:18) where one in ten people from the surrounding villages were chosen to move to the city. This week we'll consider what these people gave up in order to live in Jerusalem - and also what they gained. We'll also explore what it could look like for us to relocate closer to God and his presence.
