Sometimes the difficulties we face arise from within. Wait a minute, what?
Is there more work to be done in me?!
Sins, wrong attitudes and a whole load of unpleasantness inside me still?
Is this a fact for every Christian?

Yes. But we can stay in hope that as the Lord Jesus Christ shows us these layers, He helps us peel them away.
