Just prior to the onset of Jesus’ public ministry is the three-pronged temptation by Satan in the wilderness. Satan is acutely aware of who Jesus is and what He will do. Satan also knows that Jesus could, in fact, succumb to temptation and offers three false promises, all of which Jesus rejects.
