False teachers were claiming that what Peter and the other Apostles were teaching about Jesus' person, return and judgement is false. Which meant we should just live for this present world and indulge in all our desires.--Peter explains that he, James and John saw a glimpse of who Jesus is in all His glory and what He is bringing in His glorious reign.
