Parenting has and will always be a split topic. It’s especially sensitive when the parents have vastly different perspectives or emotional vernacular. As I always say, experience and exposure set our expectations. While this holds true, it’s not particularly accurate as it relates to parenting approaches, in most instances it can even provide a dramatic contrasting parenting approach depending on how drastic the parent’s upbringing is. So let’s just cut right to the chase, I had a listener send me a letter a few nights ago and he is concerned about the stability of his new relationship because of his girlfriend’s daughter. He and his girlfriend have only been together for about 6 months, and he has no kids of his own. His concern is not only her unruly and disrespectful behavior, but the fact that her mother doesn’t seem to be bothered by it and he does not feel comfortable correcting her behavior. When he and his girlfriend first met, they discussed having more kids but never really discussed parenting views. Here is what he wrote;
