June 2, 2018 / 02:30 / South Philly Air Conditioners / Starting at Mifflin and Hicks Streets / I love the middle of the night—the darkness, quiet, and solitude / 3am is my favorite time of day / In the warmer months, this meditative time is accompanied by the constant hum of the legion of air conditioners perched in the row home windows in South Philly / This has been the soundtrack of my late night walks home for many years / Although they can sound like soothing white noise en masse, each individual air conditioner has its own unique sounds that puncture the texture of the soundscape as I walk past / I started this particular walk after leaving South Philly Taproom at Mifflin and Hicks Sts, walked north on Hicks to Morris Street, then south on Mole Street //
