13:34 / January 17, 2017 / River / Ottawa River / The Ottawa River (in French : Rivière des Outaouais, in Algonquin: Kichisìpi or Great River) divides the provinces of Ontario and Québec and is a major tributary of the St. Lawrence River, which leads to the Atlantic Ocean / The river is impressive : 1,271 kilometers in length with a drain area of 146,300 square kilometers / Fur traders, voyageurs and coureurs des bois, assisted by Algonquin guides, used this route to access Canada's interior during colnisation / This recording was made upstream of downtown Ottawa before the Chaudière Falls / The current is strong and the sound is a deep rumble of rushing water and ice / The recording includes the high pitched sound of cross-country skiers along a path by the river / The people of Ottawa love their great river / It is a source of energy and peacefulness for me //
