19:13 / February 17 ,2017 / Elevation / Canada Council for the Arts, 150 Elgin Street/ Ottawa is many things, including a city of bureaucrats and office tower workers / My employer, the Canada Council for the Arts (Canada’s national arts funder), is the anchor tenant of Performance Court, a tall glass building at 150 Elgin / I like to spend time exploring the sounds of my workplace : it’s hums, clicks, resonances, voices, drones, rhythms, patterns, etc. / This recording explores the spaces where people enter and exit the building / I travel up and down the elevator (which ‘talks’ in French and English) and walk up and down stairs / I also ‘perform’ on the metal guardrail in the staircase, which I often do on my way from one meeting to another //
