Two characteristics of the vision of Jesus are particularly appropriate for this church. We saw in chapter 1 that brass symbolizes judgement. Jesus' penetrating omniscient gaze examines the church of Thyatira. Jesus reminds them that 'I am He who searches the minds and hearts'. In 1:13 Jesus is seen as 'one like the Son of Man'. This emphasizes Jesus' intercession as the God/man. Now Jesus identifies Himself as 'the Son of God'. This title expresses Jesus' deity and absolute authority. Jesus is a loving Savior and a holy judge. -Daren Ritchey
