Today I am joined by my very good friend Cath Williams. Cath is a qualified midwife and the mumma of two beautiful home birth babies Sadie and Samual. In many countries, including the United States and European countries home births are very common. However in Australia less than 1% of births are at home. To put that into perspective in 2018 there were over 200,000 women who gave birth in hospitals, Over 6,000 woman gave birth in birth centres and 863 were planned home births. Cath and I both had low risk pregnancies and were under the guidance of our midwives throughout our home birth journeys. So, this nourished conversation is to not offer any recommendations and instead share our personal experiences with planned home births for anyone who may be curious to lean more.
