Description:
In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, I’m covering a very important topic that is not always addressed in everyday life. Today, I will discuss PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder) and trauma. A common misconception about trauma is that you have to experience war/combat in order to experience trauma. This is simply not true. We can encounter trauma in so many different ways, and traumatic experiences are not limited to the battlefield.
By the end of this episode, I want to help you understand what PTSD is, what can cause it, how to recognize it, how it can manifest, and review some real-life examples from my past. So many people may not know or recognize when they have been exposed to trauma throughout their life. My goal is to help clear that up. Be sure to listen to the entire episode and hopefully you can walk away empowered, with a greater understanding.

[12:39] “These are things that are very small to some of us when we grow up. But those things can be ingrained in you, to then make you hyper-vigilant.”
[25:28] “What's normal to you in the hood is not normal to the norm.”
