Kong Academy is created by its two visionaries - Elke Robshaw & Curt Jordan

Curt Jordan • Chief Visionary Officer

Curt grew up in Michigan and has been passionate about teaching kids since he went to Middle School. He has been equally passionate about climbing on stuff and practicing his monkey skills. After moving to Seattle in 2008, he found the perfect combination of his two passions: he started teaching Parkour to kids.

In 2016, Curt founded Kong Academy to empower kids and support them on their journey into adulthood. Kong Academy teaches social and emotional skills in a relevant and meaningful way to kids through the language they all speak: play and movement.

In order to complete the circle of support, Curt developed Thriving Kids Parenting, a proven roadmap to becoming the best parent and creating a calm, joyful and enjoyable family life. It gives parents the tools to prepare their kids for the future. So they have the skills to thrive and are ready to make this world a better place.

Elke Robshaw • Chief Play Officer

Elke grew up in a tiny village in Bavaria. When she was 8, she wanted to start a circus group. 35 years later, she met Curt at a Parkour gym in Seattle and was so impressed by his mission and his extraordinary skill at working with kids that she joined him as a co-founder of Kong Academy.

At 18, she joined the police force as one of the first female officers in Bavaria. After 5 years she realized that this was not something she wanted to do for the rest of her life. Instead, she followed her dream and started traveling around the world. After living in Ecuador, England, and France, she moved to Seattle with her two young boys.

Elke sees the impact of the Kong Academy program every day in the interactions with her kids. There was a time when she felt she was failing as a mom and was really worried about the impact her lack of skills would have on her kids. She now enjoys every minute she gets to spend with her family and wants to share this joy with the world.
